AW19 - Sales

In the New Year, we were all rushing around getting our new collection Autumn/Winter'19 ready for sales. We have partnered with Ricardo Grassi Showroom to do our sales in Italy and Paris. Weeks before and during the sales, they used Instagram to show what brands were available, which gave us more of an international platform for companies to see.

Previously in the summer months, our buying meetings were based in London, Paris and New York. The planning behind these meetings was a lot of work, especially in London and I had to organise all the couriers for Paris and New York. I took much more of a back seat for this collection, as all I have had to do was to pack, box up the collection and organise a courier to Italy. Ricardo Grassi themselves organised the collections to be sent to the next sales in Paris. This was a rather stressful and demanding job role when I organised Spring/Summer'19 and a huge responsibility to be in-charge of someone's whole collection.

All our samples have been arriving before the Christmas period for our sales in January, which are earlier than usual. It meant that some samples needed to be made rather quickly to make the appointments in Italy. Once the samples started arriving to the studio, I organised a pdf document to send to the design team and Zoe, for her to finalise and cut anything out of the collection.

There were a few samples that arrived with the quality of detail not properly checked over, so I sourced a tailors nearby and organised for 4 samples to be altered just in time to be sent in a shipment to Italy. Some of the trimmings on the samples had to be changed, leading to me burying around in the studio for another matching button. This resulted ended up in sorting and tidying all of the zips, trimmings and buttons. The timing was rather fine for these samples, however it meant that the quality was presented well for the buying meetings and hopefully will secure sales for the items.

One of the jobs before Christmas I had to do before sending off any of the samples, was to sew on all the Zoë Jordan branded clothing tags. It was rather nice to be set such a simple and small sewing task, I do love a bit of hand sewing - I find it rather therapeutic. I had to sew on over 60 labels so it was a long morning. However it did save me having to do it in a rush in the New Year when there was more demanding and last minute changes to organise for the shipments to be sent. Even better we were all in the Christmas spirit belting out Christmas songs whilst I was sewing away.
